As far as I know, I currently own the only Playdate with a lit display outside Panic.
This project is my first real foray into hardware modding. It's faced delay after delay, but I'm still determined to get more lit Playdates into other peoples' hands!

An xkcd reader I wrote in Swift while implementing Playdate's HTTP API for PlaydateKit.
The code is CC0 licensed, and freely available on GitHub. You can also download a pre-built version on itch.
- Catch up on the latest xkcd comics, or browse your old favorites! (Some old JPG comics not currently supported)
- Easily jump to a comic by number, latest, or at random
- View the title, number, date, and alt text for each comic
- Press the menu button to show a QR code for the current comic. Scan the code with your phone to view comics with color or interactivity!
Playdate Squad
I'm a moderator in the Playdate Squad Discord server (you should join us). As part of that role, I helped organize and host the Playdate Community Awards for 2024 and 2025 (coming soon!)
The awards take me in many directions only tangentially related to Playdate. Some of the most fun have been designing and building winner trophies, and making CG teasers for the upcoming awards ceremony.
